The English High School & Junior College, Ner

Ner Education Society, Ner Parsopant, was established in the pre-independence era in 1932 during British rule. The foundation of this small sapling was laid by the renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Late Shri Narayan Shethji Agrawal, a resident of Dhamangaon Railway, with his tireless efforts and financial support.

With the noble aim of providing educational facilities for the boys and girls of the general population in the Ner area, an English high school and junior college were established. Initially, education was offered from classes 5 to 8 with the help of 15 to 20 students and three to four teachers. By 1950, the school offered education only up to class 8. Later, in 1954, classes 9 and 10 were introduced, and the first batch appeared for the matriculation examination in 1954.

Due to the difficulties faced by students from rural areas in commuting, a small hostel was started by this institution, which ran for about 15 to 20 years with public participation. Initially, the English High School and Junior College started on a small piece of land. Later, Shri Narayan Shethji Agrawal generously donated three acres of land for the school. In 1977-78, the school received approval to start a science stream at the junior college level, followed by approval for the arts stream in 1999-2000. Over time, this small sapling grew into a large banyan tree.

As of today, the English High School and Junior College educate a total of 1,735 students from classes 5 to 12, most of whom come from rural areas. The management committee of Ner Education Society, Ner, has started schools not only in Ner but also in three other rural areas to ensure educational facilities for students in these regions. These schools include Ambika Vidyalaya and Junior College, Mangladevi, English High School, Chichgaon, and Rajaram Vidyalaya, Malkhed, which are delivering excellent educational services.
